All kinds of seafoods are available near the water, and there are many scenic spots including one of Japan’s three great sights, Matsushima.

1. 칠석 축제 Tanabata Festival
에도 시대부터 이어온 도호쿠 3대 축제 중 하나.센다이시에서 매년 8월 6일, 7일, 8일에 개최되며, 연인원 200만 명의 인파로 붐빈다. 일본식 종이와 대나무로 만든 우아한 칠석 장식으로 거리를 꾸미는 광경은 볼만한 가치가 있다.
One of Tohoku’s 3 biggest festivals that has continued since the Edo Period. It is held every year in Sendai August 6-8, and around 2 million people come to celebrate. It is worth seeing the city decorated with elegant Tanabata decorations made of Japanese paper and bamboo.

2. 즈이호덴 Zuihoden Mausoleum
독안룡 마사무네로 알려진 센다이의 번주 다테 마사무네를 모신 영묘. 울창한 삼나무 사이에 나타나는 모모야마 문화를 강하게 반영하는 휘황찬란한 영묘에 압도된다. 전쟁의 화마로 소실되었으나 1979년에 재건.
This is the mausoleum of Date Masamune, a Sendai feudal lord also known as Dokuganryu Masamune. Appearing between lush Japanese cedars, the luxurious mausoleum with strong Momoyama cultural influences is impressive. It was destroyed in the war, but rebuilt in 1979.

3. 가타누마 Katanuma Lake
구루미가타케 남쪽 사면에 있는 강산성의 칼데라 호수. 파란색과 에메랄드그린, 우윳빛 등 날마다 색이 변하는 호수는 신비하여 바라보는 것만으로도 마음이 정화되는 듯한 기분이 든다.
This highly acidic caldera lake is located on the southern slope of Mt. Kurumigatake. The mysterious lake changes colors from blue to emerald green to milky white. Just looking at it seems to cleanse the heart.

4. 오카마 Okama Lake
자오 연봉에 안긴 화구호로 자오 하이라인에서도 인기가 높은 관광 명소. 전망대에서는 에메랄드 그린색부터 시시각각 색이 변하는 호수와 주변의 거친 바위 표면이 한눈에 보인다.
This crater lake surrounded by the Zao mountains is a popular sightseeing spot on the Zao Highline. From the viewing deck, you can see the lake frequently changing from emerald green to other colors, as well as the rough surfaces of the surrounding volcanoes.

5. 후타쿠치 협곡 Futakuchi Gorge (Anetaki Falls)
전체 약 8km 길이의 자연미 넘치는 협곡에서 여름철에는 등산과 트레킹 등을 하는 등산객도 많다. 아네타키(언니 폭포)는 높이 16m의 폭포로 옆에 이모토타키(동생 폭포)도 있으므로 자매 폭포로 부르는 경우도 많다.
This 8km long gorge is full of natural beauty. In the summer, many people come to hike and climb the gorge. Anetaki, or “Big Sister Falls,” is 16 meters high. Because Imototaki (“Little Sister Falls”) is next to it, they are often referred to together as “Shimaitaki” (“Sister Falls”).

6. 이즈누마(연꽃) Izunuma Lake (Lotus Flowers)
겨울에는 기러기나 백조의 도래지로 유명한 습지지만, 연꽃이 만발하는 여름의 아름다움도 각별하다. 이 기간에는 꽃 사이를 누비며 유람선이 운행되고 눈높이로 바로 눈앞에서 꽃을 감상할 수 있다.
This lake is famous for wild geese and swans in winter, but it is also incredibly beautiful when lotus flowers bloom on it in summer. During this season, boats weave through the flowers like needles so visitors can observe the flowers at eye level.
